COURSE OUTLINELawyers holding a primary professional qualification from the United States are required to pass tests in the following subjects ("Heads"):Head I- PropertyCandidates should be able to demonstrate a broad knowledge and understanding of Land Law and Trusts, Conveyancing, Wills, Probate, and the Administration of Estates, including Capital Taxation.(3 hour examination) Head II-- LitigationA working knowledge of the structure of the courts, the fundamental principles of evidence and either the basic procedures for Civil Litigation or Criminal Litigation (Magistrates' and Crown Court) is required.(3 hour examination) Head III--- Professional Conduct & AccountsThis exam covers Professional Conduct and Ethics, and the basic requirements of the Financial Services Act 2000 and investment business as it affects solicitors. Familiarity with Solicitors' Accounts, the Accounts Rules, and the operation of Client and Office accounts is also required.(2 hour examination) Live Review SessionNEW! Webcasts of the live lectures delivered in London will be available on-demand as of April 2005 to QLTT candidates.
